ok I have a soyo mobo with a duron 700 and a geforce 2 mx card. I had been getting random lock ups that would require me to reboot, mainly when i ran the intro to homeworld cat. at first I thought I had a bad processor because everytime i got a crash it was around 105-110f. it even locked up web browsing a few times. so i thought what the heck and i put in my old hard drive and reinstalled everything. it hasnt froze yet! my new drive is a seagate 7200 rpm(the one i think thats causing problems). and the other one is about a 2 year old maxtor drive. is it possible that the drive could have been casuing the problems?

Could be, especially if you have some bad sectors, currupted files, or a virus on the harddrive. Try running Scandisk (I assume you're using Windows) and run a virus scan with up to date deffinition files. It also could have been a loose IDE cable or bad BIOS setting.
