Power issues with Dell 17 InspironR

Hello,
I have a Dell inspiron 17R that is 15 months old and recently on a trip it would simply not turn on. There is power to the laptop (as indicated by the wall charger and the indicator light on the laptop itself) but it will not boot up. No hard drive noises just dead. Any suggestions. I love the laptop otherwise. Dell wants $249 to put it back under warranty....

send it to a place like best buy, future shop ect, a pc store... and they will open it up and try to figure out whats wrong with it... i cant guarantee it will be cheaper though

I am going to take it to my local computer shop. Best Buy recently wanted $300.00 to change a hard drive in my daughters lap top and to put the files back on it. And the hard drive itself was still under warranty!! Way too much$$$$
