Using 16gb in Core i3-2330m

I have an Asus K73e ty210v

The max suggested memory is 8gb

However, the Intel site states that for the Intel® Core™ i3-2330M Processor
(3M Cache, 2.20 GHz), it will take 16gb for some memory types.

Crucial suggest 8gb through your scanner software. What am I to believe?

You processor can support up to 16GB.
In this case you are limited by the chipset.
According to ASUS website-
DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM,2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 G SDRAM
You may install up to 8GB of RAM only.
