Can I install 2 GB + 1 GB DDR2 ram into my laptop?

it will tell you everything about the computer

If the laptop supports 3gb of ram then it will work and ir would be a good idea to hane the owners manual on hand to tell which slots to pt each stick. Some motherboards for laptops want certian sizes in certian slots if your mixing sizes. Sometimes the owners manual will be on the cd that came with the laptop or you can download it from Dell.

If it supports 3gb then use same speed memory. You should be fine.
