Re: Dell Latitutde 520: I'm traveling, living in in the Virgin Islands for two months, as of 12/26/2011, and have no computer instructions or user guides with me. I'm a writer and must print out the manuscript I'm generating.

The orange light just started flashing. I have no technical expertise. What lies ahead? Will the pc fail completely? Will this endanger the stored files? How should I proceed?

There is a computer shop on this island, but I haven't visited it.

Knowledgeable information will be appreciated.

Hi

assuming your PC will run on mains or you have access to the Internet elsewhere here is the link to the Dell User guide for your PC

It seems you have a low battery ??
recharge it

------------
If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the light operates as follows:

Solid green: The battery is charging.
Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged.

If the computer is running on a battery, the light operates as follows:

Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off).
Flashing orange: The battery charge is low.
Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.
