Hello,
i have just updated the newest bios 3402 for p8z68 v pro, but the problem comes up with the ram that i used to getting it run on 1600mhz, but now it just reaches 1333 mhz though i have set up all things in the bios needed. No matter what divider i set up (ex.2113), it still shows only 1333mhz of ram.
what is wrong with the bios, it has never happened since bios 0402. i wonder if i can downgrade it or something else that can help. thanks.

i updated the bios because i wanted to increase the speed of ram, let say 2133 and the capacity of 16gb and for this reason i have to provide another ram of running 2133 or 2400 such as corsair new brand.
now, i feel frustrated to find out that in the bios there's not even stated the ram speed (n/a), and only the capacity mentioned.
any suggestion, plz, thanks.

I usually see that when you max the capacity of the motherboards RAM, it usually sets the clock speed of the RAM lower so that it can handle it, that or the CPU's memory controller can't handle that amount of RAM at that high speed.

The difference between running ram at 1333mhz and 1600mhz is not noticeable and shouldn't make a performance issue. If you want to see a performance increase then overclock the cpu or the video card , those are the components that will make noticeable performance differences. The only purpose that ram serves is that it's a holding spot for the data that the cpu is useing or about to use and it's stored there to be accessed by the cpu because it's faster then going to the hard drive and getting it from there, the data is prefetched from the hard drive and held in the ram for fast access.

well, now something that i don't get is that it looks as if the bios doesn't work at all for 3402. I have tried every single way to have the best performance tweak but nothing has changed, even it doesn't detect the ram speed as it used to be (1333mhz). Now i only read the bios, saying the the ram speed is n/a (0 mhz), where the hell are the data gone? I have usually overclocked my ram to 1600mhz with the cpu running 3800mhz with the bios of 0402 and it is stable, but today with the bios of 3402 I cannot do anything, anything at all. I wonder if i am able to downgrade to 0402 that suits my ram specification.

My ram is CMT4GX3M2A1600C7, 4x2gb, latency: 77720 xmp 1.2
cpu: i7 2600k @ 3400mhz (oc 3800 mhz-normal)
mobo: asus p8z68 v pro (formerly, the bios 0402 works well)
gpu: nvidia 560ti

any suggestions,plz
thanks,

I don't think that the bios will affect the lifespan of the board, the biggest enemy of computer electronics is heat and that's why so much attention is focused on cooling the components. If the bios causes the components to heat up constantly then it will affect the lifespan.

This should be for the board ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 BIOS v.0402 but not for ASUS P8Z68-V PRO. The GEN3 makes the different, it is used for another type of board, anyhow, i don't have any idea if this one could work and if it works i wonder if i can downgrade it?

Go into the bios and load optimized defaults and save and exit. Also if it says 3402 then you may not have actually loaded the 0501 file and you should do that in the bios and not in Windows. In the bios it checks the file before loading and will say whether or not it's compatable.

today, when i enter the bios, in the main tab it says that the ME version is n/a, the CPU speed is n/a and last but not least the memory frequency is n/a as well....

hello inzone,

to my luck, having sucessfully updated the bios several times, now that i intend to go for my previous plan.

let me tell you about my computer spec:

mobo: asus P8Z68 V PRO
chipset: z68 (socket 1155)
ram: corsair CMT4GX3M2A1600C7 (support intel XMP 1.2)
CPU: IT 2600K @3400mhz (oc@3800mzh). The ram speed max: 2133mhz (oc)
GPU: ASUS GTX 560Ti ( 1GB GDDR5)

Don't you think that it is worth buying the ram of 2400mhz in order for me to increase the ram speed at least to the maximum value 2133mhz?

thanks in advance
