Dell Laptop crashes and speakers scream

My father has a Dell Inspiron 1764 and lately, it has been crashing. What happens is that the screen turns light blue, and the speakers start making random loud noises. It seems to happen when a skype call is going on, but it is not exclusive to that. I have run norton internet security and malwarebytes.

Until about a month ago, it had been running fine, and now it crashes maybe twice a day. If any of you know what the problem is, that would be great.

  1. Download and run CPU-Z or something similar to see if your CPU is overheating.

  2. I would think it's a short in the motherboard and when you apply voltage to the speakers the voltage crosses into something funky and your comp gets pissed.

Its definitely not overheating, its seems to be hovering around 40-50 degrees.
  4. You're right; those temps are fine.

    Have you tried running Memtest86?
