2.8ghz Phenom II enough for Crysis on LOW?

Forum CPU & Components : CPUs 2.8ghz Phenom II enough for Crysis on LOW?

My phenom IIx6 1055T is paired with a radeon 6570 1gb graphics card yet whether i play on 800x600, 1280x720, or 1920x1080 I always get pausing when playing even on low settings DX9 for crysis. I have 8gb ram and playing on windows 7 64 bit. I know some gpu's have microstuttering but I'm not using crossfire. All drivers are updated. So I posted this in the CPU section because I'm afraid it might be the 2.8 ghz cpu speed maybe? I've seen that minimum requirements nowadays are at least 3.0 ghz cpu speed so is it the 2.8 ghz clock speed or do you think it's just AMD?

It's not your CPU speed, it's your video card. Since it's a 1GB card I'm guessing you have the slower GDDR 3 version. Anyway, download the patch, set particles and shadows to low, and you should be o.k with the other details at medium with 1024x768. Even so there will be some slow down in certain areas but it should still be playable with the patch.

overclock your cpu, but crysis was a very hard game to play especially on a low end graphics card like you have.

I use to play Crysis on mostly medium in DX 9 mode with a Radeon 3850 and an Athlon X2 5000 @ 2.6. I didn't OC it till afterwards. Of course, the 3850 had slightly faster RAM than some of the DDR3 versions of the 6570 :p.

Crysis is very demanding on the GPU, particularly on memory bandwidth. Your CPU is fine, your HD 6570 is most certainly not.

Okay makes sense yeah I have the ddr3 version 6570 guess I'm gonna have to deal with it for now thanks for the info guys just wanted to make sure it wasnt my CPU.

Yup, so in the mean time download all the patches. They make a big difference and of course make sure you're running in DX9 mode.

your cpu is fine, and cpu requirements on games are complete bullshit.

games that fail to use for the 2 threads asks for quadcore minimals and things like that.

I play it on E8500 @ 3.8 with 4850 @ 1080p on medium....

E8500 @ 4.5 (Benchmarking settings)
