I bought a Thinkpad X40 and, despite the poor documentation and specs
on IBM's website, my particular model lacks Bluetooth. So now I'm
looking for a Bluetooth PC Card or Mini-PCI card with good drivers.
Any recommendations?

You may have to settle for a dongle. I have an Acer which
has an empty Mini-PCI card slot, but AFAIK there are none
to be had. You might find the Hewlett-Packard "Mini-PCI"
card which purports to be one, but is really a USB device.
Belkin has a PC card on their site. Might be worth a look.
Luck
