Do you want to pay for dual x16 or is dual x8 bus speed fast enough?

Idk if SLI scales the same way, but I often get double scaling with my 6950's using a x16 and a x1. Though I am not recommending anyone else try it with faster cards; I am just saying dual x8 should easily be fine...

A motherboard which has PCI Express 3.0 and SLI . If you wanna make red/black colour go for Asus Maximus V ( Z77 ) .

My CPU is an i5 2500k SB, so I wouldn't take full advantage of PCI-E 3.0. Should I just switch to an IB processor, go with 3.0 (preferably dual x16, but x8 is fine), and call it a day?

So do you recommend waiting for these new CPUs to hit the market and then pick up an IB?

What about in terms of chipsets? z68, z77, or x79?

Or pick up one from the new line of cpu's. AMD's got piledriver/steamroller right around the corner and trinity has shown us that it will be quite the improvement. Also who knows how good intel's Haswell will be...
