Like many I've been lurking around these forums for a while and would just like confirmation for my build. I have a micro center nearby so I'd like to get everything from there. My budget is around $800 so this is what I've come up with based around the i7-2600k:

i7-2600k - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

crucial Ballistix Sport Series 8GB DDR3-1600 - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

gigabyte GV-N430OC-1GL NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

(2) samsung spinpoint f3 1tb - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

Lite-ON 24X SATA DVD Burner - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

cooler master hyper 212 plus - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

ocz ModXStream Pro 700W - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

antec two hundred v2 case - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml...

anywhere i should focus on more/less for use as a student editing machine? Thanks!

I always go to the motherboard's website and check their Memory Support List for tested memory. If it isn't on their list, that doesn't mean it won't work well. But you do take a bit of a chance.

If you are planning on doing any gaming with that build, I highly recommend something better than the GT 430. Nothing less than a HD 5770 or GTX 550ti will make you happy.
