I'm having trouble determining what cooler will get my system the coolest. I recently upgraded to the 3930k and would like to get some info on the best cooler I can get. Thanks for any help.

I am also building a new gaming rig. i have got a case, 950 watt, A heaps of fan and a rampage iv formula so far was planning on getting the i7 3930K, as this is my first build i have been asking around on the best parts for my rig and so far i know that the intel liquid cooler just does not cut it. There CPU cooler is just a stocko setup with a led. no good for over-clocks Nice sales pitch throw.

i know this post is 3 months old. but im sure someone is still after this info like myself. After doing some searching i think the Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 LGA2011 CPU Cooler is a well priced fan. It has <Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control> 6 years warr anyone got any more info? still about 2 weeks before i will buy this part

The Noctua NH-D14 has some very good reviews online, so for a fin based cooler you probably can't go wrong with that. Having said that, might also wanna check out the Corsair Hydro H80 or the Extreme H100 - very good test results for those too - closed self contained liquid coolers. I actually wanted the H100 myself, but it doesn't fit my case.
