600$ gaming rig

Last response: in Systems

Hi everyone

My friend wants to build a gaming pc for around 600$.

-He has a monitor, cd/dvd reader, case, and a good enough psu for what his budget can get him.
-He doesn't mind gpu/cpu brand.
-He will be using it mainly for FPS games.
-He wants to run BF3 on decent settings.
-If it's possible, he wants a pc that can be upgraded in the future (sli, add ram, etc.)

Thanks in advance

I think his best bet is an I5-2400 with an h61 board, 8gb RAM and something like a GTX 560ti. SLI isn't always a good upgrade option, I would only recommend it if he plans on getting the second card in 6 months or so. Sorry I would get the links but I'm on my phone.

here's a very solid $600 build:

i5-2500: $194.99 w/ Promo code

I stated above that my friend doesn't need a case, a psu or a dvd burner.
With the extra bucks, what could he add to his build?

get the i5-2500k - OC + promo code $209
-Bruce

That is not the "K" version of the 2500. the i5-2500k is 219.99 on newegg, buy that CPU, it is the best for gaming currently. If you buy the k series you might want to purchase this mobo

or this one

There is no reason to buy K series if your not going to overclock the CPU. I assume he will eventually.
