How do i change my DISPLAY from a majorly white background with Slim dark boarde

Hello,
My hp 4520s laptop display is showing white on every page or window i open and there are many clear thin dark border lines around the various items displayed on a page.Every other thing like pictures and words are clear,and are written in Black,Blue or Purple or violet.I believe i may have changed the settings but i have spent 5hours sofar and i cant find the place.Please help me.
