What is the best value PC800 RDRAM?

I'm really looking at the Tyan Thunder i840, and I'm wondering if I can afford a new system based on it (since it is very expensive!)

What is the best value PC800 RDRAM available? I need 512MB, so two 256MB RIMM modules. I'm hoping I can get them for less than $1000. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks.

LOL, I don't think value and RDRAM quite fit in the same sentence. Check http://www.pricewatch.com for the cheapest prices. You can get generic for $300 a piece. Samsung is listed for $329 a piece. I would stay away from generic memory; get a name brand. Also check http://www.resellerratings.com before you order from any online store. Some of those places try to rip people off.

You're right - I don't think that generic is a good idea since I need a 24/7 stable system, and at $600 it is too expensive for a gamble.

I guess the question becomes: is the (2x) $329 Samsung high enough quality that you would put it in your system (provided you had to go with RDram :) ) or should I go the next notch up?

Thanks!

To me, if I was on a tight budget, Samsung would be acceptable.
