New power supply question

ok i got a Compaq Presario SR1710NX
it has factory power supply
Delta Electronics 250 Watts Max
+5V - 25 A
+12V - 14 A
+5SVB - 2 A
+3.3V -18 A
-12 V - .8 A

im lookin into gettin this one

mainly cause i have a spare graphics card sittin around (7300 LE) and wantin to put it into this, would this power supply be sutiable for this? the 5v on the new one is lower but im aware that its a 80 plus

Nope newer units have more Amps on the 12V rails.
The Corsair will be just fine.

No. In a modern computer, the 12 volt rail does all of the heavy lifting (CPU and GPU). The 5 volt output pretty much powers just the motherboard and drive logic. The 3.3 volt output powers the memory.

ok, it wont burn up in this board though, i mean it is off by 5 amps thats my only concern this computer i have layin around, but the board wont have much probs?

this computer looks like a 07 model

I doubt if you are pulling more than 10 amps (sounds like a lot, doesn't it?) from the 5 volt rail. That is only 50 watts.

I still have to hear someone saying anything bad about Corsair PSUs, given you chose the right wattage of course.

That PSU will power your PC no problem.

it has a amd speron 1 core, but is upgradeable to i think dual or maybe quad, what yall think?

hey btw is got a really important question on the powersupply, it doesnt have the 4 pin to the cpu, would that be a bad thing or no?, it does have a 24 pin slot but only uses 20

It has an 8pin EPS that splits in two and a 20+4 pin mains.
