You certainly don't need to spend anywhere close to $200 for a non-SLI board.

What CPU are you using? AMD and Intel Both require different boards. The two more popular boards include Intel's Socket 1155 (SandyBridge), and AMD's Socket AM3.

Intel Socket 1155:
