MSI Z77A-G45 - 8-Pin powe connector question

Hey.

I got a Z77A-G45 motherboard, I just noticed it has a 8-pin power connector for the CPU. I noticed that my PSU doesn't have a 8 pin, well it does but it just doesn't fit there. Is this 8-pin a must? As I've only seen people plugging the 24-pin.

So: Is it a must to plug the 8-pin atx power connector?

if you computer work without it, then sure you don't need it. but usually they are required, so get a new PSU.

you can get a adapter, but if your psu is under 550 get a new one. and make sure its a good brand.

There was a plug, for some reason it was slipped out of the box and in the bottom under some cardboard paper, (modular psu), got it working and stuff. now I got a new problem, tho made a new topic for it.
