I5 2500K overclocking help

Hi guys, i have a z68 asrock extreme 4 and a stock cooler and was wondering what sort of settings i should use? i would like around 3.8-4 ghz stable on this stock cooler and at a decent temperature while on near full load. any suggestions? :)

  1. for 4ghz just up the multiplier to 40

    shouldnt need to touch anything else and the stock cooler should be ok for 4ghz

    did this but after 4 small ffts prime 95 tests it got to 80degrees :/
  3. well prime 95 does put it through much more than real life use will

    try running the sort of stuff you usually would do--like games -video encoding etc and see how high the temps go

    or get an aftermarket cooler like the hyper 212 plus and go for a higher overclock then--say 4.4ghz to 4.6ghz
  4. theres 2 schools of thought on prime95

    some people just dont consider their pc or overclock fully stable till it passes prime95

    and others like me consider it stable if it passes all the things you actually use your pc for

    mine wont pass prime95 at 5ghz but it will run superpi , encode video and play arkham city at highest settings and run my cctv cameras software all at the same time

    so to me thats stable and a tough enough test on my cooler
