I have got a 460W PSU. Is the GTX 460 the best graphics card for my PC? I don't wanna upgrade my PSU since that would be out of my budget. I know some manufacturers list set a limit on "Minimum PSU Requirements" but minimum PSU requirements isn't entirely true on all systems. HD 6870 still works on some 400W PSUs afaik from the stories on the forums. Anyway is GTX 460 the best graphics card for my PSU?

My specs-

Processor- i5 2500k
Motherboard- MSI P67A-GD65
Corsair Vengeance 4 GB @ 1600 Mhz ( Upgrading to 8 GB )
Power Supply- Cooler Master 460W

Will the HD 6870 or HD 6950 work on my PSU or is the GTX 460 the best for my current PSU?

Solution
The Cooler Master Elite 460 offers up 324W on the 12V. The 460 Extreme power plus offers 312W on the 12V. With either Cooler Master 460W, that's cutting it close to the 'Full Stress' load mention above since most of the wattage demand will be over the 12V rail.

This lowest-level PSU I'd recommend to run a single 460, 560, 560 ti:

The CX500 gives you over 400W available on the 12V.

Measured power consumption Radeon HD 6950
System in IDLE = 174W
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 312W
Difference (GPU load) = 138W
Add average IDLE wattage ~ 20W
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 158 Watts
You will be cutting it too close with a 460W, the good quality power supplies are from Seasonic, Antec, and Corsair. The 6870 should work out just fine though.

Well he has a 2500k which is way more power efficient, my phenom is oc'd with atleast a 150WTDP, ddr2 at 2V, 3 hdd and 5 fans. Pretty sure he can run that 460 until he has enough to upgrade his psu if you do not overclock that is.
