TH7ii - Aux Connecter Needed For Power Supply

I have an old p4 based TH7ii raid mother board that was part of a system I had built back in 2002. I would like to buy a new power supply for my computer and get a 7600gt - 7900gs 4x AGP video card.

The problem is that the TH7ii requires an 6 pin Aux connector to help power the p4. These connectors were eliminated shortly after my computer was built. Today they are not included with power supplies.

I have done a lot of searching, but cannot find a good answer to whether or not a newer power supply will work without the Aux Connector. Has anyone had any experience with not using the Aux Connector on an old p4 motherboard?

Please don't try to convince me to just build a new computer. I have the $200 and will not have the $1200 I would like to put into a new system for a while. I have no problems dropping the $200 to get another year of life out of my system. I also am not interested in building an $800 computer that would be a solid build. I have done my research.

The old ATX 1.03 power supplies are indeed hard to find. And I don't think that your mb will operate according to specifications without the 6 pin aux connector. You might look at the following:

Sparkle is a fairly decent PS and this particular model gives you 18 Amps on the 12V rail, and would perhaps run the video cards you suggest. Most available 1.03s give 12 Amps, 15 at the most. This PS is one of the very few exceptions.

Thanks for the supply. I think it may work. It is a little disheartening that that is the best I can do with a Aux Connect PS.

Anything wrong in using an adaptor like this, 20-Pin ATX Power to 6-Pin AUX Power Adapter, with any power supply to connect to a motherboard with a 6 pin auxilary connector? I've got the same problem with my intel monterrey mb, and would like to get a nice quiet power supply.

Im dealling with the same thing here. Im adding AGP 512mb Radeon x1650 pro video card that requires 350 watts. It states its backwards compatible to 4x. I guess we will find out soon enough. I found this power supply. Athena AP-MPS3ATX40 400 Watt ATX Power Supply. It has the 6 pin p10 connector your speaking of. I havenet purchased it yet Im still doing some more research but its the biggest power supply Ive found so far with the connector included. Hope this helps.
