Well Folks,

I am sure this has been asked a million times, but I cant seem to find anything recent. But as the thread states, I am looking for the best gaming RAM. I am currently compiling my first build and I will be using this motherboard (ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131819 .

I initially had a 16GB in mind.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145347 but have since been told its overkill as I will only mainly be gaming and surfing the net. I do like to have as many as 15 pages open at a time though.

So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Money is not a huge issue, but if it helps I will also have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler, a MSI gtx 670 graphics card, 2 hard drives and a optical drive in either a Fractal Design Define R4 mid tower case or full size case of some kind. A lot of things are still up in the air in what I am actually going to buy and put together, lol, sorry.

Cheers,
Alan

You don't need 16 gigs. Period.
With over 35 tabs open in Chrome (which is now a memory hog), I never use more than 3 GB RAM. 16 is overkill for anything... 15 webpages wouldn't come close to that - each one would have to be more than 1GB large.

Go with 8GB - do you know what processor you're getting?
If it's an intel, get DDR3 1600 memory that has the tightest CAS latency possible - shoot for a CAS of 7.

If it's an amd APU, get the fastest rated memory your motherboard and processor support.

Good man/woman,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to get a i5 3570k cpu and actually the graphics might be a gtx670 4gb as the pricing looks pretty ok at the minute. Like I said, I am still up in the air with what I will buy. Just researching the heck out of everything at the minute. I'm going to start buying next month.

Can you maybe post me some links to the best RAM (also, did I see something about a low profile ram fits better if room is tight in the case!!) from maybe newegg or somewhere like that.

Cheers,
Alan

Its seems answers are in short supply in recommending some gaming RAM. Well, here is 2 choices I have come across, maybe yourself, Darksable or someone else can fill me in more on these or if anyone has a better choice, please let me know. Here is the 2 choices....

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233254

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231536

Cheers,
