Computer crash issue

okay so i just built a computer, and every thing seems to be running fine for awhile then all of a sudden without warning the screen goes black but the computer is still on (and its not in sleep mode or hibernation) tap enter nothing happens the only way for the screen to come back on is if i restart the computer. whats wrong with it.

OS: Windows 7 64 bit
CPU: phenom 4x 965
MOBO: Gigabyte 970a-ud3
GPU: His Radeon HD 6790
PSU: Corsair tx 650 v2

Well there are many things that can cause crashes. Assuming that the cables are all tight and the cards all properly seated the first thing I would do is run Memtest86+ from a floppy, CD or flash drive to check the status of the ram.

Did you leave it for 7 cycles, every time I run a mem test I let it run 7 cycles before stopping it.

Also, monitor how hot your components are when it 'crashes'

Try using VGA on the mobo instead to see if the screen goes black.
