BF 3 Requirements

So since I've been a member at EA for about 5 years they were kind enough to invite me to the Battlefield 3 Alpha phase testing. In this letter they sent it lists the reccomended PC requirements for the game.Just wanted to share that with you guys. Here's what they say...

RECOMMENDED PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

OS: Windows 7 or Vista (SP1)

More about requirements
  1. I was really hoping for something new :(

These are the same thing as other sites predicted, also, may I know what's your GPU?
  2. I also think it sucks how they arent giving a card for example.(For minimum)
  3. 6870

In their letter they said it's mainly for server testing and such.I'm thinking they toned the game down so everyone can play without lag.

Yeah, I read somewhere that that was one of the main purposes.

Well enjoy the Alpha, and respect the NDA!
  5. I'll tell you if I can max it out or not.

    Whats the NDA?
  6. Non-disclosure Agreement.

Also, is the 6870 the only card you have?
  7. Yes.A single 6870

I have a 5570 and a 9400GT but those are hardly cards you could test with.

It's intresting that in the requirements they list HD space of 7GB but the download is only 3GB.
  8. Darn, I'm trying to find someone in Alpha that has a 5670 so I could see what I'd be getting. But then again they have dumb downed the game.
  9. I'm averaging about 75fps.

My CPU is maxed, running at about 90%.

    It's a lot like BFBC2,A LOT.
  10. So its the same as BC2? in terms of getting the game to play?
  11. No it seems like it's going to be a lot more CPU demanding.I was playing it on high settings and it was like running a Prime 95 test on my CPU.And don't forget that the settings are toned down for the alpha testing.Looks like EA didn't mess up with it being a console port and all.
  12. Ah okay, hope my Phenom II X4 840T @ 2.9 holds up well :3
  13. My Phenom ii x4 965 is at 3.8ghz.
  14. what settings do you think my gtx 275 and i7 870 could run the game on?Thanks
  15. Probably on high settings. It looks like it's going to be very CPU demanding so I would suggest O.C.ing your i7 if you can.

BTW Is there any possibility of advanced graphics tweaking or is it just low medium and high?
  17. I dunno. It's just an Alpha with the bare minimum to run the game.Just a Low,Med and High setting for Graphics.I'm thinking since this test phase is meant to test the server's that the graphics will be at a minimum so that everyone can fully run the game.

but didn't dice work from PC to console rather than the other way round?...
  19. I'm not sure.

I just know that one of the main problems people feared is that since it was also a console port that it might turn out the same way GTAIV or many other games have. And it doesn't seem to be that way at all. It's nice and smooth.
  20. damn you are so lucky even to play a dumbed down version hope my rig can cope with the glamor pack
  21. The settings in the alpha were very low. I herd that the high settings in the alpha would equal to low settings in the final build of the game.

Dont go thinking that this game will be abreeze to run on max settings when its released.

I was also in the alpha
  22. ^ doubt that it will be as demanding as you are making it to sound, lets remember; console port

The alpha graphics we're pretty good though, much better then bfbc2 for example.

The console version will be waaaay lower then that, so il guess that it was medium settings in final for the high in alpha, console version will most likely be 30fps/720 or 600p with lower graphics then PC's lowest
  24. I didn't think the graphics were better than BFBC2.I think the thing it needed most was A/A and A/F.The quality of the image even on high settings looked horrible.BFBC2 looked way better. But as I said before they didn't even have an key bindings in the game options.Hardly anything you can change around.I think the true test will come in the Beta.In there they will probably have more detailed qualitys.
