About to pull the trigger on my new HTPC build, thought I'd run it across all of you first cause I'm poor and can't afford a mistake...

The idea is to have an HTPC that can record our shows with a tuner.

HDD:
My old laptop HDD 7200 SATA, 2.5
(I know I'm going to have to jimmy rig it with a 3.5 space...)

What do y'all think? Is the G620 enough to do both integrated graphics and record through the tuner at the same time? (TV is 42" LCD 1080p) Will this be enough to show Blu-Ray with the integrated graphics if I get a drive? Will that PSU be good enough or will I end up replacing it in a few months? Plan on keeping this on all the time.

Wanted to go with a 1155 socket to (I know you all hate this word) futureproof my system for a few years. Can't imagine I'll need an i7 with 16g for years but it's nice to know that option is available in the future. I could see this turning into a moderate gaming rig at some point if I upped the CPU and added a graphics card.

You'll be recording video. It would be bad to drop frames becuase the disk is slow or because the disk is full. "HDD: My old laptop HDD 7200 SATA, 2.5 "

A good 1TB drive (spinpoint F3) is $60. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

A 1.5TB 'green' slow drive with tons of room would outrun the latop drive and still cost almost nothing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152287

What video capture device do you intend to use ? .. some video devices use a ton of CPU, some don't.

Aside, when you run out of room you can record shows to external USB attached storage (mybooks and the like).

You may want to get the h67 board, because it has USB 3.0 and sata III, and some models will have e-sata firewire too, wich is welcome.

That processor is great, you dont even need all that in order to get record/play 1080p, but since its a combo, go for it!

Ya, I thought about a h67 but then I would have to get a more expensive processor, so it was a deal breaker. Plus I doubt I would use the benefits of usb 3.0 or SATA III. At least not for a few years.

This is the same model as my old HDD. Should be sufficient, right? We've got an external to which we copy our DVR stuff and keep our movies and such. This is more just something to run windows on and maybe a little bit of storage. I think we might upgrade in a couple months, maybe wait for a BF deal, but this should be good until then right?

Video card is an Avermedia USB tuner. Only records up to 720.
