Hello,

I am forced to use an old power supply for my pc as I am returning the new one. My motherboard has an 8 pin CPU power connector, however the power supply only has a 4 pin connector. Also, this connector doesn't reach the CPU power connector. Is it possible to just use the 4 pin connector to power the 8 pin slot? Can I get an extension cable for it? My power supply also has a spare 6pin connector which will reach the 8 pin slot. Can I use it? Thank you. (typed on a phone due to lack of power supply :p)

Solution
yes you can just use the 4 pin

will your pc boot? --maybe depending how much power your cpu needs

can you use 6 pin--no

extension cable--yes ebay or any local pc shop

best bet 2 x molex to 8 pin connector

my typings too slow--or the extension davcon lists
