Trying to configure two computers connected via..

I have a crossover cable to connect my two computers via network cards and be able to transfer files from one machine to the other (more specifically video files).

I have no idea how to configure both computers so that the connection will be activated...can somebody shed some light into thew matter?...Thanks

I have to clarify that I do not want to make a network which will be connected to the internet...this is just two computers connected to each other for file transfer.

Have you tried running the network wizard?
That should do it for you.
