Hey there guys this is my first post on this webiste. I have the Asus G71GX Laptop and I wanted to upgrade the processor. The laptop has a Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53 GHZ Processor in it. Which is 45nm. Now, I know that I can put another processor like Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9000 or even Intel E8400 Core Duo in it. But I was wondering if I could put a Intel Core i7-2720QM processor in it. Some would say that you can't put a i7 in a Dual Core motherboard. But I'm wondering; can't you fit anything with 45nm in there? or more specifially will the Intel Core i7-2720QM work on my Laptop?

Thanks in advance ::)

What do you mean by sockets? Isn't the only thing I need is a 45nm processor? I thought they all fit? I'm totally new at this :p
