Hi,
I built a PC last week and don't seem to be getting any readings for some fan speeds. Can anybody help?

Speedfan also shows my CPU temp as 83..whereas the asus software shows it as 25..any ideas?

Yeah Speedfan caused me a lot of troubles which led down a long long path wondering what was wrong so i would suggest using HWMonitor (which isnt as simple sadly :( But it actually works) Your CPU reading will be your GPU temp ;) Or that's what it did on mine
As for the fan speeds are the fans actually spinning? Because 83* is hot for anything in there!

Do you have the cpu fan pluged into the right connector on the motherboard? It is usually on the right side of the cpu socket at the top of the motherboard. You can refer to the motherboards owners manual to see the ezact location. That connector on the motherboard is specificaly for the cpu fan.

Yeah its definitely plugged into the right connector. The CPU fan speeds, as well as one of my case fans doesn't show up when I go into the bios...is all this anything to worry about? The air coming out through the case fans feels very cool..so I think speedfan is getting its numbers wrong

I just want to be able to monitor the cpu fan speed really.

EDIT: the fans are all spinning as well

None of this is anything to worry about so dont worry about it XD All of your fans are spinning so thats all safe.
Are you able to read the speed in your BIOS? If you are then it's just speedfan that has a glitch but if not then I dont know, but if it's the stock fan are you able to monitor their RPM's anyway? :S

Because it's an antec case you (I dont think) can't monitor the speed of your case fans on the case but: when they are on high they spin at 2000RPM, medium they spin at 1600 and on low they spin at 1200RPM's. (This is just the 120mm)
The 140 (Top fan) Spins are:
High: 1500
Medium: 1100
Low: 700

Try downloading HWMonitor: http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.18-setup.exe

Same company that made the CPUID software :)

In your bios you should be able to select weather to monitor the Speeds of your fans?
Watch this video and from: Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiOnq2jeB1U
22-26seconds whatch what he does to get into the advanced mode
then from 2:17 go into the monitor part, make sure that CPU-Q Fan is enabled
If it is and you still can't see the speeds then im rather stumped :S

Another Edit:
Just to check, if you click this link:

Are you powering the CPU fan through the connector just next to the top Ram slot on the right hand side?
