There is no way to explain whether a motherboard is "good" for gaming or not. The motherboard either:
-suits your purposes
or
-does not suit your purposes

For a gaming rig, you tend to look for these aspects:
-mild Overclockablility
-Multi-GPU support (CrossFireX or SLI)
-4 RAM slots
-Reliable (from a company such as ASUS, ASRock, MSI, or Gigabyte)
- Proprietary Technologies from the motherboard manufacturer

The Motherboard you chose I would rate is Alright for gaming.
-It is the Z77 chipset, meaning it can overclock the RAM, the CPU, and the GPU.
-It supports ONLY CrossfireX and does NOT support SLI, meaning you can't use Nvidia GPUs if you wish to add another one later
-Has 4 RAM slots for a max of 32GB or RAM (more...

- From a trusted manufacturer (ASUS) and is well rated
- Lots of stuff from ASUS to make your experience better.

It's a great motherboard, except it does not support Nvidia SLI, and a lot of people tend to pair Intel with Nvidia, meaning there is a high chance you chose a Nvidia GPU

Thanks for your reply man. The way you explained it was quite helpful.
I plan to use a ATi GPU with this so the lack of SLi should not be a problem.
Thanks!
