Should my 500Watt seasonic power supply take on HD6790?

My PC refuses to start when i plug the two 6 pins on 6790...
Actually it starts but monitor shows no signal and even the fan on mobo rotates very slowly..
So is the issue of my PSU? Should i get a 750Watt PSU?
I am ready to get one... But I just want to know is it the PSU? What can i do now if the PSU is causing the problem..

A bad video card can create issues like this as well. Can you try this video card in another machine by chance?

I guess i should check the card then but are you sure that this PSU should take on 6790?

a 500w seasonic can power a 6970 never mind a 6790.

Anyway, i figured out the problem..! It was my DVI converter.. Now the card works fine..

How does a DVI converter keep your system from starting?

Was it causing a short?
