I built my own computer for the first time back in October, and ended up going with a GTS 450. I figured it would get the job done until right about now, when I want to go bigger. My question is, since I only plan to game at 1920 x 1080, on my 42 inch HDTV, would something like the 580 just be overkill? Obviously, at higher resolutions, the 580 trumps the 570 by quite a bit, but since I never plan to go above 1080, is the extra cost of the 580 really worth it? Specs below:

MSI LGA-1156 H55-GD65 Motherboard
Core i5-750 CPU
4 GB 240 pin 133 mhz DDR3 RAM
Cooler Master GX Series 650W 80 PLUS PSU (52a max on the single 12v rail)
Cooler Master CM 690 II Advance case

More so than maximum framerates, you should consider the minimum framerates will be higher on the 580. You don't want to be in the middle of a busy firefight in an FPS and have your fps drop and get choppy when you need it to stay up there. Also, if you like quality plus performance, you can't beat a 580. Is it worth it? I think so. Could I have done without it? Yes. Would I want anything less now that I've had them? No.

If you can get a 580, do it. You won't be sorry.
