New build - ~1500$ - help needed!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Approximate Purchase Date: in the next three weeks

Budget Range: ~1500$ ( please keep in mind that components in my country are more expensive)

System Usage : Rendering, 3D modeling

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: www.emag.ro , www.dc-shop.ro

Country of Origin: Romania

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Yes

Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050

Additional Comments: I would like a quiet PC if possible and I also have a problem with dust flooding my pc.

Since the prices are high at my local supplier i can't buy all the things I want at once.... So, I am thinking that i must do some compromises and purchase other components down the road.
I am studying animation and i need a powerfull graphic card, since i cant afford to buy it now ( without buying other cheap components, ex: like a cheap motherboard) i intend to go for a month or two without a graphic card.I also plan to go SLI thats why i think i should wait and purchase a better graphic card instead of getting a cheaper one now.
(I intend on buying a GTX 580 graphic card)
I dont know if its a good ideea or not but i am waiting for your advices so please speak freely about what you think i should change/replace.
(i can also stretch my budget a little if you think its worth the effort)

So this is what i have in mind for now:

asrock-z68-professional-gen3 - 387$ (actually i am looking for Asrock z68 Extreme7 Gen3 - so both graphic cards can run at 16x in SLI, but i cant find it in any shops here so if you have any suggestion please let me know)

intel-core-i7-2600k SD - 415$

master-silent-pro-m-1000w--pSilentPro - 258$

case Cooler-Master-haf-922-window - 200$

cooler-cpu-noctua-nh-u9b - 80$

kit-dual-channel-corsair-16gb-4-x-4gb ddr3-1600mhz- 200$

------------------------------------------------

hdd-samsung-spinpoint-f3-500gb ( i'll get a SSD when i can afford)

Graphic card : none ?

  1. For 3D Modelling and Rendering, you definately need a discrete GPU. I'd not take the Extreme7 as you won't need to SLI/X-fire and x8/x8 and x16/x16 barely has a 3-4FPS difference atleast in games.

    Processor : Intel Core i7 2600K - $315
    HSF : Air? CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo - $35
    MoBo : ASRock Extreme4 Gen3 Z68 - $200
    RAM : 4x4GB Gskill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 - $100
    Graphics : GIGABYTE GV-R697UD-2GD Radeon HD 6970 2GB - $350
    Hard Drive : Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - $60
    Optical Drive : LG 24X SATA DVD R/W - $20
    PSU : CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750M 750W Modular : $130
Case : Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower - $100

    Total : $1310 before rebates
  2. i intend to SLI ofcourse. so i dont think i want to change again the power supply when i do.
also dont know about the case and the hsf ( i choosed noctua nh - u9b because is a silent cooler).
is there such a small diference between x16/x16 and a x16/x8 or x8/x8?
( i dont need it for gaming but for rendering)
  3. Whats the need of SLI? If you need more power than a 2GB 6970, get a single GTX 590.

The HSF is best in its class. Supports 2 120mm fans and isn't that loud.

yeah, the difference between x16/x16 and x8/x8 is so small.
  4. Thank you for your reply.
I need SLI to save a few bucks in the future.
Put it this way : i buy now a gPU that costs 300$, but after 3-6 months maybe I have another 300$ to invest. So should i buy other graphic card ( and throw away the one i just buyed a few months back ?) or should i buy same graphic card and go SLI ?
Ofcourse i would like a gtx 590 but i dont have the money for it.
  5. The thing is, why wouldn't you buy a single powerful GPU instead of two less powerful ones in SLI?

and for your works, you wouldn't need more than a single HD 6970.
  6. It's simple but maybe you cant understand because of my bad spelling.

I dont have 600$ to spend on a single powerfull GPU now, but i have 300$ now ( first GPU ) and 300$ in a few months ( second GPU )...
The second GPU will be more powerfull for same 300$ in a couple of months, but it wont be more powerfull then 2 x first GPU in SLI. Do you understand my point now ? ( the prices are theoretical only )
You are true, now i dont need more then a HD 6970 but how about in 2 years? just saying.
  7. anyone else have suggetions ? thanks

To be honest, I would go with a gtx 560ti with that resolution not to mention 3D modeling you want Nvidia. It would do great in games, and later on you can add another one. I would look for a decent 750w psu to push two of those cards like Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, XFX , Enermax, or Silverstone. Everything else up there looks good. Make sure you get 1.5v RAM.
  9. hi and thank you for reply.
Do you think i should get the asrock-z68-professional-gen3 or should i wait on the extreme7 ?
Just now I've read about Quadro and Ati FirePro/FireGL GPU's that are specially made for rendering and can run very fast compared to gaming GPU's, but is so much over my budget.
I'll stick to normal GPU for now. So wich one you think should i choose:

    asus-nvidia-geforce-gtx560ti-1024mb-gddr5-256bit-dvi-hdmi-pci-e

    or

    msi-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-1024mb-gddr5-256bit-dvi-hdmi-pci-e

or should i go with 2GB gPU ? (the difference is 80$)
    gainward-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560ti-2048mb-gddr5-256bit-hdmi-dvi-pci-e

    Edit:
i found this PSU , its 850W, 80+ silver, modular... i think its ok.
    corsair-850w-cmpsu-850hx

and this one( 80+ certified only and not modular, but almost 70$ cheaper at my seller)
    corsair-850w-cmpsu-850tx

Either the Asus card or the MSI...you can't go wrong with either card. And a 750w, not 850w for dual 560's. 750w gives you a lot of extra power left over.

For a board...either one of these two boards down below.

    850w for 570's in SLI.
  13. WTH would you need the Extreme7 MoBo? Thats for 3way SLI.

This. It looks like you wanted it for the dual x16 lanes, right? There is no graphics card that will see a difference between x8 and x16.
