Using router as a wireless adapter

I have old Netgear router WGR614v9, can I use it as a wireless adapter?

Only if it supports being a wireless bridge.

The short answer is, no. The only real hope would be if it supported third party firmware, like dd-wrt. But checking the dd-wrt database, I see v9 has a status of WIP (Work In Progress). So I guess it has the potential to be supported, just not right now. If and when it does, then you could configure it as a “client bridge”, effectively turning it into a wireless adapter. You might want to keep an eye on the project and see if it eventually is fully supported.
