Looks like a nice set up. The Intel® Core™ i5-2500K, ASRock Z68 Extreme, and hte EVGA GTX 560 TI should give you a very nice system that should be able run about anything out there. Since you do have a Z68 board you might take a look at nice small SSD (under 64GB) to set up for the Intel SRT and improved access and boot times.

My build is a lot like yours, and, no i don't think it will either. I would say (based on preference) to do such, you would need somewhere along the line of a GTX 580+, or a 6950+ for consistent high FPS on ultra. Though, it would definitely be more beneficiary to go with 2 6870's like he said, or if you're an NVIDIA guy, a couple of 560s or 570s.

I don't expect a single 560 to come near to maxing the actual game on ultra. Especially with only 1GB of VRAM.

If you can I suggest going with a crossfire setup with a 6870, add a 2nd later. Need a mobo that can support it though :o

So , do you think a 6950 or a 6970 would perform better than the GTX 560 Ti Or GTX 570?

two 6950 2GB will be performing right under a 590 or 6990

570 isn't worth the price compared to a 6970. You only get 1GB of vram with the 570 as well which will get eaten very fast.

Right now I am running the BETA with Dual Twin Frozr III 6950 2GB on a Phenom II x4 965BE hitting around 60fps outside and 100fps in doors with everything maxed but motion blur at zero on 1920x1080 resolution.

The beta isn't even maxed in terms of graphics (ultra isn't full ultra) so I expect my fps to drop some and my 965BE with a 3.7ghz oc isn't helping much either lol.

IMO buy the best single gpu you can afford (even if you have to get a cheaper p67 mobo to cover the extra cost)

For two 6970's or two 6950s with a factory OC, you are going to want a 850W psu to power them. You also plan on ocing your cpu I suspect so you will need more headroom for that as well.

Lmk what you are thinking.

I've been hearing that the Nvidia Cards are performing better. I'm not sure , when I look at the Bencmarks the 6970 peforms better than a GTX 580 ; but I'm not sure yet.

I think people are overestimating the system requirements for bf3 to be honest, I bet a GTX 560ti would play on ultra high fine, you probably wouldn't even need to overclock it.

I say this because I play bfbc2 on ultra high @ 1920x1200 on a GTX 460 fine, I bet if i just heavily overclock it, it'll cope with bf3 fine too.

i agree that it probably isn't going to turn out that way. you've got to remember, bbc2 may have ran fine on a 460, but the 560 is only just ahead of that (460->550->470->560,and theres a pretty decent graphics difference and i don't really think it has the power, i have a 560ti 2gb, however, and though it will do better, i don't plan on it being the greatest at bf3. I'm pretty dissapointed with it to be honest.

AMD released a 11.10 preview driver for BF3 beta testing that improved gameplay alot, I expect the actual driver they are going to release when the game releases will improve even more to handle the actual power of the game and not just the power of the BETA.

You could spend some time going over gameplay reviews and what not of people that have systems like yours. Should be plenty of people posting videos on youtube about the beta atm to give you an idea of how the 6970s and 580s are performing right now.

First of all, a single 560ti is the recommended settings for HIGH as posted by DICE which is not ULTRA

I can max BC2 no problem with a single 6950 2GB. Yet I am only getting 60fps on beta ultra outside and 100fps inside and the ultra setting isn't even maxed. The beta is running on DX10 atm and ultra isn't even maxed yet I am barely scrapping by 60fps.

So please, tell me how you expect a 1GB 560ti to max it.

They day a 560ti can max the actual BF3 on Ultra is the day reality ceases to exist.

System requirements have never been that accurate tbh, also you don't need60fps for smooth gameplay, 30 is plenty. Anyway none of us know and the info from dice isn't exactly reliable, if they recommended a 460 people would be disappointed.

Once you hit under 60 fps you experience lag? There may be something up with your system :D
I never catch lag unless my fps is under like 27. lol
And I agree, people are over exaggerating about the system specs to run it on ultra.
They have a new game engine, and it allows for better in game graphics, without the need for the best of the best graphics cards. Obviously, the best graphics cards will work best for the highest settings, but other cards can handle it too.
We might not get 100fps like you do inside, but we also will not be lagging all the time. Anyway, if the graphics are so damn nice, will there really be a huge difference between max and ultra graphics? I would not mind playing on max settings if the graphics still look very realistic.

It also depends on what resolution you are playing on.
You won't find an exact answer until the game is released, and there are hundreds of people asking the same question. It's like we are somehow supposed to know :)

Just to throw in a point, the current Beta ultra detail is high detail, so the actual game will be more demanding.

I'm really stuck on the Graphics Card's ; everything else is sorted and ready to be brought this weekend but , I don't know what to get , either a XFX 6950 2GB or the Evega GTX 560ti , which is 1.3GB I think.

I've been thinking about it all day , I'm going to be running a 1080 X 720 monitor when I get it , or perhaps higher than that when I plug it into my 30 inch LCD.

I've been reviewing benchmarks all-day and the XFX 6950 seems to out perform the GTX 560ti. But then again some people have been saying that BF3 works better on the 560ti.

I was watching a Caspian border Gameplay and the guy said he experienced 40 FPS+ with the GTX 560ti.

I'm in a bit of a pickle and I would like to order the parts within 1-2 weeks so , it would be amazing if you could tell me which is would better for me:D

Havn't read throught he whole post... But in my experience, you will be fine. High with a good fps, ultra with a decent fps (30 or so) I say stay with what you got, and get another 560 at a later date. Sure you are spending a bit much on mobo, but you wont need to upgrade in the future (as far as i know)

Hopin to see you in BF3! :)

P07 you should consider getting a good gaming mouse, maybe from razer. My mouse never ever lags in game, and I totally forgot that could happen because I have been using this mouse for so long :D

irock97 if you will be playing on a 1080x720 resolution, I think the gtx 560ti will be able to run it just fine, but I am not 100% sure about ultra settings.
If you plan on plugging it into the 30 inch lcd, you should consider buying a card with more vram, 2gigabytes is good. For the 30 inch lcd, I would take a radeon 6950 2gb.

I still don't know what one to pick? Down the line , I will want to sli Or Crossfire. I heard Crossfire works better?
September 30, 2011 7:38:37 PM

oh I got you. and i didnt even recognize lol my bad, anyway razer is the best!

and irock it really goes down to what you think you will do in the future.. are you a 100% that you will go to the 30 inch lcd? if yes, you might as well get the 6950. If not, and you will play at that lower resolution, you should just stick with the gtx 560 ti. Plus I heard the 560ti sli's very nicely.
October 1, 2011 7:22:33 AM

Get the 560 TI. Not only do they scale well in SLI, but BF3 has been partially developed by nVidia. It will almost certainly perform better on a 560 TI than a 6950.
October 1, 2011 2:34:52 PM

Get a 560ti and once you get enough money buy another 560 ti.

I have seen builds with a gtx 580 built with $1100..
October 5, 2011 8:46:52 AM

OMG guysss!!!!!!!!!!!! It just occurred to me!! :bounce:
The answer is clear in terms of the gpu he needs!! Get a 6950 2gb then flash to a 6970!!!!
If you then decide to crossfire the 6950 flash (same as 6970) it would turn your pc into the ultimate beast!!! :pt1cable:
October 5, 2011 9:42:31 AM

From what I've read you can't rely upon flashing to a 6970 as some of the cards will be designed to prevent this.
