Hi all,
I've been reading Tom's for a while but never got around to joining the forum and signing up. Thanks in advance for helping me choose some parts! I've had a laptop for the past 4 years and have never put together a new cpu before but will have a friend to help me put this together when I do near christmas time. Here's the rundown!
Approximate Purchase Date: Christmas of this year.
Budget Range: ~1100-1300 CAD
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, movies.
Parts Not Required: none
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: ncix.ca
Country of Origin: Canada
Parts Preferences: by brand or type Not too much of a preference, I was looking at some sweet Corsair cases and was told they have great cable management. Also probably need advice deciding between the i5 and phenom tho i've read most people prefer the i5 2500k? if i dont overclock should i just get the 2500? Also, since ram is so cheap nowadays... how much should i get? 8? 16?
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe. Not at the moment but may buy a 2nd card later down the road.
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200, 1 monitor

EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD - $360
OCZ Vertex 3 60GB - $120
Patriot G2 4GB x 2 - $50
I5 2500k + MSI P677A-G43 Combo = $325
Antec 900 - $90
XFX 750W PRO750W PSU - $90
Seagate ST31000524AS 32MB cache 1TB - $60
LG DVD burner = $20
Total - $1115
Additional Comments: Would like a case thats quiet and has good airflow. Thanks for everyone's help.
