5770 Crossfire

Hello Everybody.

I have two ATI 5770 cards, and i have been wondering. What can i compare it with from the 6xxx series.
Since BF3 will soon be released, I've been thinking about buying a 6970 or a 6990 card.

I have the Alpha trial and my setting are set to High and im getting good 60fps in the first base and 100+ in the metro.
But for the final release i think it will be more demanding from the GPU.

So how good are my 2x5770 really?

It's about the same speed as a 6870. What resolution do you game at? The 6990 in most cases is overkill unless you use multiple monitors.

1680x1050 is what i use, with one monitor.

It depends on how they set the graphics in BF3, cause thats what im looking forward to this year.
I would buy a 6970 or a 6990 just for that, even though its overkill.

The price should drop until October? or is gonna be the same

At that resolution BF3 will run perfectly with a single 6970. They aren't going to release a game that requires everyone to have a 500+ dollar video card in order to run it. I guarantee my 5870 will run it no problem at 1680x1050.

Honestly you have an ok chance of running the game pretty well on your current hardware. Why not wait and see and then make a decision. By then new cards might be out as well who knows.
