Changing the processor

I am changing the motherboard on a Dell GX 280..Do I need to use thermal paste when placing the processor?

Yes, you always use fresh thermal paste on the heatsink when swapping a chip or reseating the heatsink

Yes, absolutely. Using no thermal paste or using the old stuff that's already there will result in almost immediate overheating and potential damage. Always use fresh thermal paste.
