Hi Guys,

Just bought a new bundle of components - motherboard, CPU, RAM, Case - and I've tried to plug in 2 hard disks from my old PC but for some reason my motherboard WILL NOT recognise either of the 2 hard drives when plugged in directly to the motherboard, however they are recognized if I plug them in to an external dock and via USB.

Are there any settings I need to fiddle with in the BIOS or could this be a problem with the board? I have tried using different sata cables. The new motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-Z77-DS3H (bundle - http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/barebones/bb-37704e.html)

they can not be recognized even in bios? can you check them in F12 quick boot menu?
did you set up any raid or ahci mode in your older system?
also check your z77-ds3h, maybe sata mode is set to ahci by default and your older hdd is actually in ide mode.

I'd agree with Beryl - if I try that on my mobo POST complains that there are no AHCI drives.
