I am new to this forum, but i liked a lot after i read few threads.

I have a HP pavilion dv3000 laptop, recently my display stopped working. Service centers say that the display controller has gone bad.

My question is whether it is possible to add a graphics card to my laptop and use the graphics card output to different monitor?

or can i replace my nVideo controller? I heard that this problem would occur even if i replace the controller and there is no guarantee for the controller after 6months.

or is there any other solutions?

Please suggest.

Thanks and Regards,

It's the well known defective nVidia GeForce 8400M GS GPU issue.

The chip is soldered onto the laptop's motherboard.

The only real solution is to replace the laptop because replacing or fixing the motherboard (by re-flowing the solder under the nVidia GeForce 8400M GS GPU) will not guarantee that it won't happen again.
