i'd suggest getting a good psu first. with a good 500+ w psu, radeon hd 6870 1 gb gddr5.

How dose a 550ti compare to the 460 the 550ti is cheaper i can get a gtx 560 for about 165 with mail in rebate or a gtx 275 for around 120
and would spending 30 dollars more be worth it for the 850 watts version

both gtx 460 and 560 are much better than the 550ti.
850w might be overkill.
between the 460 and 560, i like the 560 better as it is the newer version and performs quite well. otoh, the 460, despite being old, is used by a lot of people.
new 7000 cards seem to be even better. nvidia should be coming out with their own lineup of new cards this year.
