Windows 7 and router issues

Hello,
I just got a new computer with windows 7. I have a work group network that I can't get on my computer, and also I have no internet connection. All other computers on router run windows xp. What can I do to fix this problem.?

have you tried using the Network Wizard?

Are you using DHCP or static addressing?
