Hey everyone,
I'm new to building and thought it would be a good idea to run my thoughts for a new build by you guys to make sure that everything I picked is compatible and will work together. Also, any advice on better parts for similar or even lower prices if possible would be welcome as well. Well, without any further ado, here's my *specs* as it were and my parts below them:
Approximate Purchase Date: It's a theoretical exercise at this point. Purchases would be made either over a long period of time as upgrades to my current computer, or all at once if I am able to arrange to sell mine for a good portion of the cost of the upgrades.
Budget Range: About $800 Before Rebates
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Primarily gaming, movies and internet surfing. I regularly have 30+ tabs open in chrome or firefox.
Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.ca is the one I'm familiar with, all of my current selections are from there.
Country of Origin: Canada
Parts Preferences: As you can tell from my picks below, I'm aiming for Intel and Nvidia for many of my components.
Overclocking: Yes, I'll likely do some tinkering but nothing really serious.
SLI or Crossfire: No
Monitor Resolution: My current monitor limits me to 1360x768 on my radeon 5770 (which makes a strange buzzing noise EXCEPT when i'm stressing it or the cpu a bit, strange). Anyways, as I will be looking to get a bigger monitor in the near future, 1920x1080 will be what I am aiming for.
Additional Comments: The things I'm mostly concerned about are that the case I picked is big enough for the parts I picked, and that my power supply is good enough to power everything steadily under load. Other than that I'm fairly confident that everything I picked should all work together, but if I'm wrong about anything be sure to tell me!
My Picks
