Hi everyone.
I need a recommendation for a wireless router and a cable modem. I don't need a combo device necessarily but if that is the best option I'd consider it.
For the router I'd like something with:
-Simultaneous dual band 2.4/5Ghz. (I'm moving to a big apartment building in the city and the airwaves will be crowded)
-802.11 n capable.
-Reliable. I do a lot of gaming (Xbox and Wii mainly but some PC as well) and lag/packet-loss is so annoying to me.
-I'd like it to have at least one USB port (I can probably use up to 2, anything more would be extra) so I can attach an external had drive and use it to stream media to my laptop when I'm at home and on the road.
I'm less sure what I should be looking for in a modem. I will be using cablevision/optimum online if that is important.
I'm pretty tech savvy so ease of use isn't as big a selling point for me as speed/reliability. I'm comfortable flashing my router with third-party firmware if that is part of the best option.
Thanks
