AMD Radeon HD6870 GPU speed

Stock my card should have a GPU @ 900Mhz, and Mem at 1050Mhz. Now the Memory speed is fine. But whenever I am inside windows OR am playing a game. my GPU speed does not go up. I know it's 300Mhz as an energy saving device. But it should go up when the card is used, right? It stays 300Mhz in game. anyone got a solution for me?

Well if the card isn't giving you any problems (like low frame-rates) in the games and the temperatures are fine then it just means that 900MHz isn't necessary.
