Dell mini 1018 wont start after ram upgrade

I bought a 2gb ram memory card for my dell 1018 mini. Installed it and it wont start. only power light turns on and a split second light for the hard drive turns on then just a black screen. the computer is on it just wont boot. I guess its not reconizing the new ram cause i can put the old one back and it works. the co. I bought the new ram verified it as the correct size and type that should work. What are my options?

More than likely the RAM is bad, but there is a possibility that it is just not 100% compatible with your computer.

Before you return it, you could try a BIOS update from Dell with your old stick, reboot and make sure the netbook works, then try the new memory.

More than likely it's defective.

2 options.
1. put the new ram in, and don't boot.

2. put the old ram in, and RMA the new ram. I don't know if the ram is really bad, but it's possible.

What are the specs for the new memory?
