Hey all,

I started playing NFL 2k1 over the weekend after having my XBox friends talk
about their Madden 2004 action all the time. Graphics, sounds, control I
find to all be superb in NFL 2k1, but the season mode is very disappointing.
Exhibition mode is worse, very bizarre. But the season doesn't allow any
control of attendence, the roster, conditioning, trades, etc.. Very limiting
and disappointing. Going into the standings for the season has all the teams
together in one list, not even broken up by division. Wow. I read a few
reviews of NFL 2k2 and it doesn't seem any of these issues were addressed,
so I guess picking up NFL 2k2 won't solve any of the problems...

Swung over to the local GameStop while I was out. I'm sure most everyone
knows but my local one was offering 30% off used games and accessories. I
flipped through the game offerings, they have probably 50 games, 30 of which
have no cases or instructions. Quake III was marked at $7.99, so I picked it
up for under $6 with tax even though I own the game on the PC. Other
offerings were about 10 copies of NFL 2k1, several of NBA 2k and a myriad of
stuff I wasn't interested in. Some stuff I was interested in, but too
expensive... I thought about getting Kiss: Psycho Circus (marked for $4.99)
instead of Quake III since I have never played it even though I knew the
playability would be worse, probably next time.

I am surprised by the quality of the graphics of QIII. Very nicely well
done. Sounds is great, animations impressive. Being a PC guy I haven't
gotten used to using the controller. I forsee a keyboard and mouse being
much better control.. I've got a KVM PS/2 converter, so using my existing
keyboard and mouse would involve buying two converters... maybe I'll spring
for that someday...

The first standings screen has all the teams lumped together but just
press R/L on the D-pad to cycle through standing by Conference and
Division.

Trades and free agent signing are all possible in season mode as well as
custom players and plays. Franchise mode gives more depth as well.

Cool, still I'm not sure why they even lump them together ever... kind of
bizarre.

Is this in NFL 2k1? I guess I'll have to investigate this option more... can
you give me a hint how to go about a trade?

Thanks!

Trades, custom players/plays, free agent signings, and changes to your
team's depth chart are all found within the CUSTOMIZE menu option.

To make a trade, navigate through CUSTOMIZE --> TEAMS --> TRADE

The trade screen has two team rosters on the screen, one on top half of
the screen the other on the bottom half. Use the L/R triggers to cycle
through the teams on the top to get to yours and use the A button to
select player(s) to trade away. Use the X button to flip control to the
bottom team and do the same.

Use the START button to propose the trade which will either be accepted
on denied by the computer (a denied trade can be overruled).
