sup guys, i want to upgrade my hd 5850 and i was wondering if a gtx 570 would give me a good increase on performance at 1920x1080 resolution, im also planning on using my old 9800 gt as a dedicated physx card to play mafia II and batman Arkham Asylum, i want to swich to nvidia due to phsyx XD, i saw some games that used nvidia technology at a friend's house and was impressed with all the stuff i was missing. He showed me metro with advaced phsyx enabled and was amazed at how the enviroment reacted when a grenade exploded, i tried this with the hd 5850 and it was unplayable haha. The most important thing is to get a nice fps increase over my hd 5850.

tell me what u think and recommendations, i will highly appreciate it

At reference speeds a GTX 570 will be about 35-40% faster than your HD5850 on average at high resolutions assuming you have a CPU that can fully take advantage of the GTX 570.
As for GPU accelerated Physx keep in mind those 3 you mentioned are really the only major games released in the last few years that utilize it in a notable fashion.

Well, the 570 is going to be about a 25 to 30% increase in frame rates pretty much across the board on an average. Certain games, even more. However, you may need to overclock that Phenom a bit to really see a huge difference.

no, not worth it, you going to shell out serious bucks for a relatively small bump up. I got a 5850 doing battle beside my 2600k, still fine, waiting for the next generation of cards before I pony up, suggest you do the same.

I would recommend waiting for the next generation of cards. You can overclock the card to get higher frame rates.
That speed increase is not enough, at list for me. This time next year when new games arrive you will upgrade again?

It's your choice.

GTX 570 is better than a HD 5850 and will give you significant improvement in performance in almost all the games.
But you can still do well with a HD 5850. Just don't upgrade yet. Wait for the next gen GPUs to be released so that you'll have a worthy upgrade or you can get the GTX 570 or 580 when the prices fall.

and do you have any idea when the next gen of nvidia cards are coming? if not much time i think i can wait

I would do one of two things:

Wait for next generation of cards. Expect to see new cards sometime in the next year that should offer quite a bit more performance per dollar.

Pick up another 5850 and crossfire. The 5850 is an older product and they're a little harder to find, but it is still a powerful card and you can find them for about $150 bucks- spend this lesser amount of money and get better performance than a single GTX 570.

It's most probably Q4 2011. This December or so.
