Help. Is this a motherboard problem or is it my gpu?

Computer Specs
Mobo - Asrock Z77 extreme 4
GPU - Gigabyte gtx 660ti
PSU - XFX pro 750W
Hard drive - kingston hyper x 120gb SSD

I am having a huge problem with my computer at the moment My graphics display for the card...although will work has a huge black border on it, even though the resolution is set to 1920-1080 resolution....When I plug my monitor into my built in display it is working fine and there is no black border. When I try to open the Nvidia Control panel (latest version) it says Nvidia display setting are unavailable. you are not currently using a display attached to a Nvidia GPU...even though I am   I am also getting code 39 in the device manager for both the Nvidia card and my integrated graphics. all help will be appreciated.
