Hello Techies,

I purchased intel DH77EB & i5 3470 and G Skill Ripjaws X (F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL), by default board got detected as 1333MHz clock speed for RAM and i have overcloed it by manul settings to 1600 MHz, But upon booting my Windows 7 OS showing as 1333MHz still, what would be the reason. Please hlep me to use my RAM's *8x2GB) at 1600MHz clock speed.

Thanks you in Advacne !!!.

I assume the RAM is installed in the Blue DIMM slots, and next boot into the BIOS and enable XMP and use Profile 1. The Ivy Bridge can use >DDR3-1333 on the H77, and apparently your G.SKILL lacks an 800MHz JEDEC 'SPD' but has 'XMP-1600' only which is more the norm so it will default to DDR3-1333 (667MHz).

I know you can test the RAM and see the GB's breakdown, but off the top of my head 'frequency' I don't there's a 'built-in' application. Even if there were I've always used CPU-z, AIDA64 Extreme and Memtest.

I do know very view kits have both a 'SPD' and 'XMP' up to the kit's rated frequency/CAS.

Here's an example, using CPU-z, of a 'typical' DDR3-1600 kit (less the low voltage) note the 'SPD' is for DDR3-1333 and lacks JEDEC 800MHz for (DDR3-1600) therefore by default (plug-n-play) it'll run DDR3-1333 on a SB-E or Ivy Bridge CPU. A few kits do have JEDEC 800MHz (SPD) so the Plug-n-Play will run DDR3-1600. XMP-1600 is not a JEDEC, therefore not a plug-n-play for default.

Chances are the OP assumed or used an app to determine frequency, and maybe there's a way that I'm not aware of or pre-installed apps on the OP's PC. I'd still have to actually see the CPU-z for the OP's F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL sticks.

Otherwise I know you can run CMD.exe and WINSTAT MEM but that only gives you 'MB/s' but that's more about the CPU + RAM.

Hello Friends,

The above link is for cpu-z verion 1.59, so it's didn't picked up the RAM settings.

I have installed 1.61 version and now it's show ing RAM settings. Please find the below link and let me know your inputs, i was checking RAM clock speed on Intel Desktop Utility Tool and it's showing as 1333mhz, but now CPU-Z showing correct i guess, please suggest me on this.

Ohh Great my Friend,

Thank you so much, i was confused why OS was detecting as 1333 MHz and BIOS detecting as 1600 MHz, upon your confirmatoion i am mentally peace now.

Thanks a lot !!!
